Policies, Terms and Conditions

Tuition Tax Credit:
CASTI is a certified educational institution approved by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Canada. Accordingly, students may claim the fees paid to CASTI for purposes of the Tuition, Education and Textbook Tax Credits provided that all appropriate criteria for eligibility have been met. Contact the Canada Revenue Agency to inquire about your specific eligibility.


Special Discounts:

additional courses - 5% discount

CASTI offers discounts to individuals who register in multiple courses. The same individual must be attending all courses within the 2010 calendar year to qualify for a discount. Discounts are based on descending value of courses - highest priced course is paid in full, additional course registrations will receive a 5% discount.


Continuing Education Units (CEU):
CASTI has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, VA 22102. In obtaining this approval, CASTI has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standards which are widely recognized as standards of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, CASTI is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standards.


1 CEU is equal to 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Only IACET Authorized Providers, who undergo a strict evaluation by continuing education peers, can award the IACET CEU.

Objectives:
To introduce the risk management principles and concepts that RBI is built on for the oil, gas, power, pulp/paper, and chemical process industries. To achieve these objectives, API RP 580 and 581 will be covered using classroom lead instruction that includes multiple workshops and examples. This course will also assist API ICP inspectors prepare for the API 580 Supplemental Certification exam.

Accreditation:
Each participant will receive a certificate with 3.2 Continuing Education Units accredited by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Optional Tutorial:
An optional evening tutorial session to discuss the API 580 ICP exam and review sample exam questions will be held after class on the first day.

Required Code Documents:
All participants must bring the API RP 580 to this class. The API RP 580 document can be purchased from CASTI while registering for the course. A course notebook will be provided to all participants by CASTI.

About the Instructor
Alwyn Kaye, M.Eng., P.Eng., graduated from the University of Alberta in 1989 with a Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering (Welding) and from the University of Canterbury in 1980 with a Mechanical/Materials Engineering degree. He has over 27 years of experience in fabrication, construction, design, management, inspection and research. He has a strong technical background, specializing in technical project management by hands on outcome success in difficult and unusual plant problems. He has engineered original innovations, repairs, patents and practical solutions to cost saving designs and field problems in the pressure equipment, process piping, storage tanks, and pipeline industries.

Mr. Kaye's field experience includes plant shutdowns, welding, equipment remediation and certification as a National Board Boiler Inspector SCO Cert.#2567, API 510, 570, and 653 certified inspector, AWS Welding Inspector, ASNDT/CGSB Level 1 and 2, MT, PT, UT and Level 1 RT (lapsed).

Alwyn Kaye is an accomplished CASTI instructor, having taught in Canada and internationally with excellent reviews and comments.
